Wylye Valley Cinema is run by volunteers in The Langfords who are enthusiastic about bringing entertaining, challenging and interesting films to the community in a social and relaxed environment. It is operated under the auspices of Langford Parish Hall which is the venue for the films we show.
Everyone is welcome no matter where you reside. At each performance we can seat about 60 people in comfortable chairs so it's best to make a reservation by email and pay at the door to avoid disappointment. However, it's always worth just coming along and we'll do our best to make sure you can get to see the show.
Where do you get our films?
We source our films through Moviola.
Every four months they provide us with a list of about 40 recent and pre release films from which we select our choices for the coming season. Not just our regular monthly films but from time to time a "special" show to recognise an occasion or "just because"
All licensing and distribution requirements are managed by Moviola.
How do you choose what films to show?
A disparate group of seven or eight volunteers get together with the Moviola list about six weeks before each new season for the difficult task of making the selection. When doing this we try to balance many different variables: British v American v Foreign films. Blockbusters v independents. Popular v art. Thriller, romance, drama or comedy and of course what has previously been popular with you, our audience.
We realise that we can't please all the people all the time but be assured that we do all we can to try and ensure that we deliver something for everyone throughout the year.
Can I say something?
We would love to hear from you and we welcome your suggestions and feedback on what genre of films and any specific titles you would like us to consider if they're available to us.
Do please also tell us what you have enjoyed - and what you did not enjoy and of course, we're always open to your suggestions about what we might do to make Wylye Valley Cinema an even better experience for you and the community.
